Numerical Study on Unsteady Pressure Distribution on Bulk Carrier in Head Waves with Forward Speed

چکیده
This study deals with wave-induced unsteady pressure on a ship moving constant forward speed in regular head waves. Two different numerical methods are applied to solve wave–ship interaction problems: Rankine panel method which adopts velocity potential, and Cartesian-grid solves the momentum mass conservation equations under assumption of inviscid incompressible fluids. Before comparing l1ocal distributions, computational validated for global quantities, such as motion responses added resistance, by comparison available experimental data. Then, results data compared hydrodynamic pressure, particularly focusing magnitude first-harmonic component sections vertical locations. Furthermore, is used simulate various wave-amplitude conditions, characteristics zeroth-, first-, second-harmonic components investigated. The nonlinearity distribution observed mostly from near still-water-level bow normalized decreases wave steepness increases. Lastly, understand local time-averaged force analyzed. It found that major contribution occurs around stem above design waterline.

Numerical Study on Resistance of a Bulk Carrier Vessel Using CFD Method
Bulk carriers have an important role in international maritime transport. In this paper, we carried out a numerical study on a model of bulk carrier vessel and calculated total resistance of the model. A model of a bulk carrier vessel with length of 2.76 m, breadth of 0.403 m and draught of 0.173 m was selected for numerical modeling. Numerical work was done by commercial CFD software ANSY...
متن کاملEffects of Valve Closing Law and Unsteady Friction Model on Damping Pressure Waves in a Network
Water-hammer is a transient condition which may occur in a network as a result of rapid or slow valve closures, pump failures, changes in turbine loading, etc. It creates high and low pressure waves which travel along the system and decay as a result of wall shear stress. Comparison o experimental and theoretical results revealed the failure of steady or quasi-steady models in correctly predict...

متن کاملEffects of shear and bulk viscosity on head-on collision of localized waves in high density compact stars
Head on collision of localized waves in cold and dense hadronic matter with and without shear and bulk viscosities is investigated. Non-relativistic dynamics of propagating waves is studied using the hydrodynamics description of the system and suitable equation of state. It will be shown that the localized waves are described by solutions of the Burgers equation. Simulations show that the propa...
